Job Summary
Design and install systems that will allow the company to measure, monitor, and control the flow of gas at company facilities and provide support to Operations in the maintenance of those facilities. Drive operational excellence and standardization through continuous improvement efforts and effective partnerships across NiSource. Ensure that work is in accordance with all applicable company and regulatory requirements while ensuring safe, reliable service to customers in an efficient and economical manner.
Entry level position - Under supervision and guidance of more senior department personnel
Principal Duties and Responsibilities
- Design small scale gas measurement, monitoring, control, and field SCADA systems in conformance with Company Standards, AGA/API codes, field conditions, and within budget constraints.
- Prepare costs estimates and purchase equipment for measurement, monitoring, and control applications.
- Manage small to medium scale field SCADA construction projects - coordinate with outside contractors, company employees, and customers.
- Implement strategies to replace obsolete equipment and upgrade stations/equipment to meet company and governing body standards
- Provide technical assistance to various departments to implement control and measurement operating and maintenance procedures.
- Configure and operate various types of electronic equipment; EFC, RTU, Transmitter, telecommunications equipment, controllers, test equipment.
- Provide technical assistance to Operations and other internal customers in areas of measurement, monitoring, and control.
- Test and evaluate new measurement, monitoring, control, and telecommunications equipment.
- Provide technical assistance to Field Operations problems during and after normal working hours.
- Implement best practice opportunities.
- Prepare monthly and annual reports as required by the department or regulatory agencies.
- Actively seek and incorporate feedback from internal stakeholders related to job performance and support.
- Maintain customer-focused working relationships with Operations and Engineering partners.
- Align individual objectives with department goals and projects to ensure that corporate needs and objectives are met.
- Maintain awareness of impact that decisions make on capital and O&M budgets and recommend best cost alternatives to meet budgetary constraints.
- Attend schools and conferences relating to functions performed by the department; RTU programming, instrumentation, measurement, control, telecommunications, and job specific equipment utilized by the company.
- Strong employee relations and communications within the department

Required Qualifications for Position
- Bachelor's degree (by May 2022) in engineering from an ABET accredited school
Preferred Additional Qualifications for Position
- Experienced in working with various telecommunications technologies, radio, telephone, cellular, satellite
- Experienced in leading teams
- Experienced in data gathering & analysis
Located anywhere within the NiSource Virginia Service territory
